The sales brochure photos for my '72 show that the rear\valence (where the taillights are) was painted black. Has anyone ever actually seen a car like that? Does it look any good? My '72 has no evid

The 'quirky' '72 that I have indeed originally had a blacked-out rear valance. It was flat black. The original body color was saffron (kinda yellow). Pretty sure it was factory painted. Ken C

If you mean the trim piece on the lip of the trunk lid and all around the rear valance, it was chrome in 72. I <believe> that the chrome/black-out combo was standard in 71 and 72 and replaced by blac
