What are the differences between the 1976 (and earlier) 1500 engines and the 1977 (and later) models. My understanding is that the later motors had dished pistons and a lower compression ration, but

When the original 77 piston threw a rod through the side (pic at http://www.bigolbear.com/photo.htm), the only locally available fit was a 1500 engine from a 73 midget. The shop said it would fit and

the only difference in the Midget 1500 block and a Spitfire 1500 block is that P in the serial number (Spits are FM and Midgets are FP) Of course there were other differences in things that were bol
