Glenn My 75 Spit has the same conversion and I have been running with the timing set at 8 degrees BTDC and a point gap of .015. Mine does not have vacuum advance(retard) and seems to run fine at this

Glenn I have a 75 spit also converted back to points type distributor. An ex British Leyland mechanic that did the conversion recommended setting timing at 8 degrees BTDC. Also my dizzy has no vacuum

Many thanks to those who responded to my post about release bearing arm pivot being replaced with a capscrew. Since I couldn't detect any excessive movement at this pivot I have decided not to worry
