- The Cummins 5.9 is a true diesel. It should be good for AT LEAST 300,000 miles before any major rework, such as rebuilding the head, etc. That's one thing which sets it apart from the F--, and GM 6.2

- One reason is they're built super heavy. Also, they run at lower rpm's. The 5.9 Cummins hits max torque at abt 1800 rpm, and usually don't run over abt 2500. Most car engines are designed to run fast

- Everytime I see people talking abt high gas prices, I remember abt prices in the fall of 1982. Gas was $1.50 (regular, leaded) , and we all thought we would see $2.00 a gallon by the summer of 1983.
