I thought I'd mention something on this thread. If you do use wheel spacers, you have to be carefull. The lug studs are usually too short to fully engage the nuts, so you may have to get longer studs

I've changed out the busings in the steering box cover, it's not too difficult. You need a "cape chisel" to remove the old bushing, basically this chisel is very narrow, and cuts a slot in the old b

Author: J Forbes <jforbes@primenet.com>
Date: Sat, 27 Nov 1999 17:25:56 -0700
I don't want a console in either of my 59 trucks, because there's often a kid sitting where the console would be. But, if you are not blessed with too many passengers, then I think you could build a

Author: J Forbes <jforbes@primenet.com>

I lucked out and got doors on my 57 Suburban, which is a model 3106. My 66 came with a tailgate (model 3116), and I went to some trouble to swap to doors. The TF trucks aren't as bad as the 60-66, b

The Chevy rearends use a "drop out third member", so there are 10 bolts holding on the ROUND cover, and 10 nuts holding the removable cast iron center section to the stamped steel "banjo" housing. T

Howdy! The heater cores from 60-newer trucks are different, as I recall...the most common one is used in the fresh air heater, which has long tubes that come out and bend around quite a bit, instead

Hi, y'all! Long time no see. Anyways, I'd guess that if you run 28" tires, and have 8 teeth on the drive gear on the tranny output shaft, then you should need the 22 tooth gear. Jim compare oletrucks

Since the steering adjustment is similar, I'll go thru a quick layman's version...but, you will of course eventually need to overhaul the gear, as the bushings are most likely worn out, at the least.

It looks like you might have the makings of a neat Jimmy truck! However, I think you may be approaching it from the wrong angle. The chassis for a 59 looks quite different from the chassis for a 74.
