YES! No. Accelerate normally to crusing speed (ie. the speed at which you want to check the mixture. Hold that speed for 3-5minutes. This will allow you to get a better "read". Then do a "clean cut"

Personally, I only use the plug colour as a general guide to the condition of a cylinders components. For mixture adjustment I just use lifting pins and the Mark I ear. I tried colourtune some years
