All that is really important is the distance from the wrist-pin centerline to the crown of the piston. That should be the same on both the types you have. The rest of the piston is just there to sup

It may have to do with how the pistons where made and the materials they were made from. Forged pistons tend to expand much more as they heat up. For this reason they may appear smaller than cast or
