Since we're on the subject, what is the highest compression ratio I could run on a freshly-rebuilt engine using 93 octane pump gas? My car never pings now, even when I do stupid things with the timin

Another add i read on the crossflow head said that you could do 11:1 with 93 octane,and they actually tested this.For a daily driven car I wouldn't go any higher than 9.5:1 myself. Chris Eaton '70 MG

Not an MG, BUT, my '66 Galaxie has 10.5:1 compression and I set the timing at around 12* BTDC. Sometimes in the hot Florida summers I will back off the timing to 10*. I HAVE to use 93 or 92 octane, N
