- Hi all, I know I'm a dumbo so don't bother telling me I am, even after this message ok! <G> I've been trying to learn a little automotive math to work out Compression Ratios for the purpose of knowin

- Neil, how are you measuring your combustion chamber volume? You need to have pistons and rods and crank in situ when you measure this, since deck height affects the combustion chamber size. How are

- I'm no expert, but here is a formula a friend passed on to me when I had the same question. Compression Ratio = (C - P + G + D + V) / (C - P + G + D) where: C = combustion chamber volume P = piston d

- Hi Niel, As others have pointed out you have some other volumes to consider. Also, those published CRs are for THIS piston with THIS head and so on with production CCVs. Can of worms, huh? Merry Chri

- You didn't miss by much. What's missing is the volume from the top of the piston to the bottom of the dish the piston head, plus the volume from the top of the piston to the top of the block at TDC

- Jay and all, Firstly let me point out to all that I'm calculating this purely as an interesting exercise and not taking physical measurements from the motor - which I will do at a later stage. This s
