It may pay to remove the boot and have a look. I had a lot of play on on end of the rack on my MGA and assumed it was wear. I eventually took the boot off and found that the ball joint screws into th

I doubt there'd be much difference, since when I found a crack in the head on my MGA, I was only able to get a head from an Austin 1800 at the wreckers, and it fitted with no problems at all. Cheers,
