Can't you use the same tie-downs that you would use on an open trailer ... IOW, block the wheels and tie down the front/rear axles .. this will keep the frame from moving and let the suspension deal

The Eastwood Company sells a polishing compound ... they indicate that it will work if you can't detect the scratch with your finger nail. I've never used it, but recall seeing it in their catalog .

A "15" cast into the rear of the head is a good indication that it is a 1500/1600 head, but you can verify this by "cc"ing the head (measuring the capacity of the combustion chamber) ... hmmm ... not
