On the subject of keeping oil in British engines and tranmissions. The best gasket compound I have found that works both on my B and in my E-Type motor is "Hylomar" , this stuff was invented by Rolls

I have also seen some oil pressure fluctuation on my '62 B engine in the speed ranges you quote. It has done this for 15 years of hard driving with no probs, you should quit worrying.
