HI Guys, In answer to the question below, I have a 1975 factory MGB GT V8 and the fans are controlled by a sender (otter switch) mounted in the intake manifold just prior to the water leaving the the

Just to be clear, the manual switch would have been an owner addition, they didn't come like that from the factory. As to whether the inlet manifold is hotter than the top of the rad or not I think t

But then again the V8 and later MGBs both have an 82 degree stat and a 90 degree thermo switch, which perhaps implies that there is little difference in coolant temperature between the inlet manifold

If you have 3.5L that is not tuned then no but if you have a 5.1L with every thing done it will heat up fast and you will need to keep on top of hot spots more. /// /// mgb-v8@autox.team.net mailing

Can't see that would make much difference. If the stat isn't opening fast enough, or if there is insufficient coolant flowing through the radiator for any other reason, even with the fans running the

I never knew cars used such low temperature thermostats! My 3.0L aluminum V6 came with a 190 degree thermosta, that I replaced with a 180 degree unit to cool it down some. I was having trouble seeing
