I would think that aluminum rods fail quicker than steel because of the constant change of direction of the piston, rings and piston pin associated with high RPM loads. The connecting rod is constant

I have had excellent luck with both red and yellow top Optimas. Not much luck with the Blue top. Have had good luck with Exide spiral cell batteries.
