Alternator and stock water pump cost nothing in comparison and actually allow the car to have enough voltage to run the ignition and they really cool the motor that's being pressurized with water....

The Nascar boys mostly run the rear end oil cooler off the driveshaft.... Street rodders have been known to use that set up for an alternator thou. I'm sure it would work for the Salt flats... Keith
