Time to show my ignorance. We (Howard & I in his first car) always had at least 6% slip. If we had, say, 10% slip, what kept the tires from going to 20% or 50%. What are the dynamics going on here.

I was told that it may improve your 60 foot time because the cool aluminum combustion chamber can take more advance. Through the rest of the gears in a 1/4 mile the timing is "correct". Nothing said
