- The good news is that you don't need to disassemble the trafficator switch. You loosen the olive/nut at the steering box (and set screws on the wheel). Disconnect the wires, and slid the whole thing

- You can also just spray it with clear, which makes it black and glossy and is easy to renew in a couple years. High gloss polyurethane works well. Doug Reid, 18G Motorworks i have tried cleaning up
