I think bypassing the throttle switch is the wrong thing to do.That would tend to hold the OD engaged even when the main switch was turned off. If you want to take it out of the circuit I think you s

It sounds to me that your throttle switch has dirty/fouled contacts. I'd pop the cover off the switch and then file the contact surfaces. I've never had this particular switch apart, so I'm guessing

If the throttle switch is bypassed by installing a jumper wire between the two terminals of the switch, then once the overdrive relay is energized by turning on the dash switch it cannot be de-energi
