Not to rain on your parade, but did you get the nut with the shoulder on the bottom side? These nuts have a shoulder which is 1/32 to 1/16 thick on the underside. Not exactly sure why but I have see

Hello Simon, Left Hand nuts, and two legged ones are easy to come by here in the "states". However, there's a little more to the story. The nuts are have machine 'relief" on the bottom side that fits

When I rebuilt mine using new nuts, they fit the "spanner" just fine, but the original nut has a lip on it. I duplicated this lip by turning in a lathe. This keeps the large cupped washer centered.
