Depends on which Electronic ignition set up you buy. there are five that I know of... pertronix, luminition, mallory kit, mallory distributor, and 123 ignition.

Certain coils are designed for specific applications, and the differences are in the resistance values of the windings within the coil and the internal design. I used a MSD Blaster on my Mallory dual

I don't have much basis for comparison, but have the pertronix in my Healey and my TR3 and have been very happy with the performance and reliability. And, they're easy to install. Ned Paulsen
