I've had a few folks have trouble fitting their dust caps over the beefier parts in my uprated front axle kit. I'm guessing that there are multiple designs for the dust cap, some roomier than others.

I use a short piece of 2 inch black pipe to install my dust caps. Fits over the outside of the cap and drives on the flange. Works good. A bit of the ID of the pipe may need to be filed or ground awa
