I clean out the inside of the gear in my lathe and make a bronze oil-lite bearing for it. You can make the bushing a little longer for better support. I do this all the time in TR3-6 gearboxes. Anyon

I believe I have several of these in good condition. I have lots of Spit gearbox parts I don't use in the GT6 I clean out the inside of the gear in my lathe and make a bronze oil-lite bearing for it.
