Chicago is a mess during daylight hours. If you take 1-80 to I-39 (well east of Chicago) and go north from there to Rockford it's much more reliable. At 4 am the Chicago route can be 30 minutes quick

Tim,Are you sure its the diff not the trans? One more thing to look at only if you have an overdrive - my overdrive caused exactly that symptom once when the actuator pressure didn't leak down proper
