- Yes it's necessary. The filter has an entrance and an exit—oil drains either way when the engine is stopped. The built-in valve prevents drainback towards the pump. The tube prevents the filter drain

- This is my first oil change with the anti-drainback tube installed on my U20. Didn't get get much oil when the filter was removed, I guess I was expecting a filter full of oil. Normal? Filter type me
