i have used shiny black fabric paint to do exactly that on a car. it covers the ugly yellow, but doesn't look concours or anything. it's a decent stopgap measure. i'm not fond of those dashboard cove

Are you talking about the part that has the radio & knobs, or the part that starts with the glovebox and runs up to the shifter. I bought a formed cover, (like the dash covers) that fit the glovebox
