I thought it was a neutral emissions switchwhen your foot was on the clutch or the trans was in neutral, the timing got messed with via a solenoid- operated vacuum valve to change the idle emission.

But don't use a metal screwdriver, use something screwdriver- shaped, but made out of plastic. Even a little chip out of the edge of a windshield will kill it.
