If you expect reliability as a regular driver, I suggest an aluminum block Chevy small block for that level of horse power. To get that from 215 CI, you would need 11-1 compression, $1500.00 worth of

The 215 & 4.6 have the same mounting bosses & the external block & head dimensions are the same, so should be a bolt in. You would not want to use 215 heads on a 4.6, smaller valves smaller diameter

The 215 is not a perfect fit, but is very possible, as is a Rover sump on a 215. On each, the length of the oil pick up is different, so you must use a Rover pick up with a Rover pan, Buick pick up

Interested in the efi. Don't try to build a big 215, too expensive. Cheap is a Buick 300, nice is a big Rover, 4.2 or 4.6. Early front covers work on the 4.2, as do all the other 215 parts. Same for

You may need a new mechanic, or a new source of parts. If this is like the early Buick 215 V8, & I think it is, there is not a proper seal, just a gasket. Easy to make, cheap to buy. I have a few sp
