should be aluminum I have never used anything on my plugs, and I have over 100K on my truck. No problems. But I change them regularly.

Very true. But you forgot the effects of the bypass valve sticking partially open. Low oil pressure at idle. No I still didn't get the dang guage installed.

I thought we were discussing oil pressure. Sorry But knowing what can and does go wrong can also help in troubleshooting. That dang bypass valve has stuck on me on one occaission.

Alright I just heard from a member of the D90 list that his oil presure was 10psi at idle with a VDO mechanical guage. 35 at 2400rpms.. But now I don't see how the idiot light would work at all.

in years temperatures I have been using 20w50 since it has been available. I swear by it. But only in the summer. In the winter I run low winter weight numbers like 5-10w. when in real cold climates
