Didn't 1964 cars come with SUs? I would use SUs, not Zenith-Strombergs.

My '64 TR4 has ZS carbs. My understanding is that for some years, they came both ways (SU or ZS) from the factory. My dad's '65 TR4A has ZS carbs as well. Why SUs over ZSs? The ZSs (pre 1970 anyway)

Evidently a few TR4's were equipped with ZS 175CD's as opposed to the more usual SU H6. Most TR4A's I've seen were equipped with ZS 175CD's but some came with SU HS6's from the factory. I agree with

I think you would be happier going to SUs that came on the earlier TR4s & TR3A&Bs The best you should expect from a wrecking yard is a rebuildable carb. I would check the throttle shaft for latteral
