The hatch back mod you are talking about sounds like how the last Brick made came out. I am talking about Scott Hanisch's car. Not sure if all of the last batch of cars had this or not. If I remember

what are all the changes that the '76 was supposed to have. I queried Scott about his car, but he never responded. The only ones I know of is air doors / seals and a different wheel rim supplier. GM
