I like Ed's theory. Quick test is to start it cold in the morning and crank the wheel to full lock a few times in each direction while barely rolling then drive. No pull and Ed is right. Tire theory

The power steering works just fine, does not leak, and the fluid is at the correct level. I tried pulling over and moving the steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times, but it did not affect the

OK, I think I wasn't clear :^) The "leak" will NOT be an "external" leak. You won't see any fluid leaking from the rack, and the fluid level won't change. Rather, it will be INSIDE the steering rack,

Ed, does the rack need to heat or just the fluid( yes I realize there will be transference of heat from the fluid ) for the seal to expand sufficiently? I am thinking that repeat trips to the stops;
