Exactly my feelings as well James. The track model has nifty light weight Rays rims, Brembo brakes, dynamic stabilization crap, and wing/diffuser kit that cuts the Cd from .30 to .29. Not IMHO worth

Actually, even more than the Maxima I would recommend looking at a sport suspension and manual tranny equipped Altima 3.5 (which has the 240HP/240ft-lbs version of the VQ35 motor). Something like 0-6

The one thing I'll add to this is that the instructors do get a single session at the end of the day at the Thill Street Schools, so there is a weeeeeee bit of play time in addition to the 1/3rd day.
