Actually, you're mistaken, the sparkplug fires every 1/3 rotation of the rotor, but that's not the measure of rpm for a rotary engine. You count each rotation of the eccentric shaft, the rotary equiv

Dang it, I hate it when that happens, Bruce is right, the rotor turns 1/3 as fast as the eccentric shaft, so you get two firing pulses per rpm, the same as a 4 cylinder....
