Hi Kreg, Not having my Sunbeam in front of me to check, I would guess the heater valve may be installed incorrectly. Although it seems like not enough coolant to overheat the car, I would check this

Well, Thanks for all the input on the strange heating problem. It turned out to be a combination of things. The PO had the expansion tank for the radiator completely topped of which is a no-no, and a

How quickly does the needle 'jump'? If it's intstantaneous, then it may well be a grounding problem with the gauge, and not temp related at all. Cheers, Paul. _______________________________________
