- I had a problem like this. It turned out to be the ignition switch, which I was able to disassemble and repair. However, the repair only lasted a short time and I had to ultimately buy a new switch.

- Probably the "C" clip that hold the shaft/washer in has fallen out or broken. Most likely you only need to relplace that. CNA

- My understanding is that early Series Alpines had heavier (29lbs) flywheels with a larger contact surface for the clutch than later Series. Could this perhaps explain it? CNA
