Dave--Muffler shops have slip joints to connect the pipes. These seal pretty well, but can be troublesome to disconnect after time. A better way is to have the shop weld on flanges to the open ends.

I've managed to pull the entire stock exhaust ('74 TR6) from the downpipes to the stock muffler out through the cruciform plate section of the frame, but it's actually easier the "other way" as you
