- You might be able to get the shine back with some Mother's Polish, but I think the shiny pipes are the least of your worries. If it got that hot you might have some motor damage. Was it running lean?

- I wouldn't want to tell you to do anything wrong, but... if it were me I would probably jam a plug up inside the hose far enough to let the end of the hose slip over the connection for the cannister.
