Tim,
Short answer: yes
Long answer:=C2=A0 Do you have a Bentley repair manual?=C2=A0 The direction=
s for removing the fuel cap are in the "Fuel System" section of the book.=
=C2=A0 In particular you want to look at section 19.40.19.=C2=A0 Honestly, =
I didn't know that they had done that to the filler caps but I guess that m=
akes sense as every other car sold in the leaded vs nonleaded era had the s=
maller filler holes.=C2=A0 My 76 was probably already converted when I boug=
ht it.=C2=A0 You can probably get a early used filler cap from Scott Harper=
if you can't find one new.=C2=A0 I think TRF used to stock the early fille=
r caps.=C2=A0 I'm not aware of any issues with converting to the early cap =
but, then again, I've never done it.

My 1977 Spitfire has a factory gas flap in the fuel inlet neck that I've r=

es from entering far enough to open the flap, and therefore spills gas all =
over the rear deck. One of my two local choices for non-ethanol fuel (Sheet=

My question is whether anyone has removed the fuel neck from a later model =
Spitfire and can it be done easily and safely without removing the entire t=
ank? I need to get rid of this obstruction as there are fewer of the old st=
yle fuel pump nozzles every day and I don't want to use a screw driver=C2=

Appreciate your responses (please hold the sarcasm)!
