Since the list is so quiet and I do not post very much I thought I would thank
those of you who took my advice about contacting Gordon Jolley for rare photos
and Video footage from the 70s runoffs and it seems that a few of you found
some of the treasures that I found that had never been seen before. Gordon's
footage has provided some very rare and never seen footage of 4 different cars
we are restoring for vintage racing and his footage of the 72 trans-am and
formula 5000 footage showed us the rare BRE lotus ford that was wrecked
the day after the film was shot and no one had known there was footage of it
racing. Plus we found that the car actually still exists and is presently
being restored in northern cal. This was a fantastic treat at the BRE reunion
we held in October in So Cal and we had all but one of the original team
members and some earlier employees that had left Shelby when Peter Brock
started BRE. We are presently editing 6 hr of
footage down to a 2 1/2 hour DVD of the dinner event.
The projects we have are 4 Datsun 2000 roadsters including the first ever BRE
2000 built for Frank Monise and later John McComb then sold to Gene Felton and
thankfully this car is well documented and we have quite a bit to go off for
the resto. The second car is the 1969 AARC Daytona 2 nd place finishing car of
Dan Parkinson who later had 2 other datsuns roadsters 1 of which was the
factory lightweight which was sold to Doc Herman in Ohio and 2 of these 3 are
documented but info on the 3 rd remains elusive. The 3rd car although not as
well known was the John Coen/Dave Eagleson 1968 2000 which originally came
from Bob Sharp and was 6 th at 69 daytona and 5th in 70 Road Atlanta and 8th
in 1973 at Road Atlanta but it was 73 that interests us most because that year
they ran the car painted silver with flames painted on the front and we are
trying to find some Photos for the resto and there are some great video shots
of it spinning twice at RA we cannot
make out the flames well enough for the final decision. We are also trying to
find photos and info on the Dave Madison b-sedan datsun 510 or see if anyone
knows if Dave is still around.
This brings me to asking if anyone knows if any of the following old time race
photographers are still out there as we have some photo copies of their photos
and would like to purchase the originals so here are some names from the past
off the back of old photos.
Terry Knickerbocker(maybe in oregon area)
Thomas J Kravitz (area unknown)
Dick Kast/ Action Photos ( Indianapolis Ind at least in 72)
D Y Muramatsu (southern Cal I think)
We have some neat photos from all of these guys and need some help finding
them. Thanks for any guidance.
