Remember that SCCA used to mandate pump gas for production cars at all their
races. Think of the leveling of competition if everyone ran pump gas in their
low compression engines.

In fact 100LL has enough lead that I used to add an additive for making
it more compatible with your typical piston engine airplane to prevent
lead build up on the valves.
