I have been running all year with a transponder on a ff2000.  I normally 
use a jumper battery in the pits but the on-board to start in grid.  I use 
a small Panasonic gell cell.

After a full weekend without charging, the battery is still at about 
12.2v.  I think the transponder is not an issue from an electron usage 
perspective.
