on brake lathes when worn, which cuts both sides at once to prevent taper
and runout of one side with respect to the other side. Taper in and of
itself is not the end of the world, and will not affect the braking after 1
or 2 severe applications as the pads bed and wear the high spots. Variation
in thickness around the rotor will be felt in the pedal and can cause lockup
and release if severe enough. It will not go away with bedding and wear.
