Dear Pat,
I was "with you" most of the way through that; comparing the 'X' and
'Y' factors to the 'A' and 'B' Stiffness Coefficients, then it dawned
on me that you didn't take into account 'Coefficient of Restitution'.
Remember that the energy of 'X' and 'Y' must also equal the energy of
'X^' and 'Y^' (X prime and Y prime).. (Conservation of Linear
Momentum).

Also, don't confuse an exponential relationship with a tangental
relationship, which is what would occur as you approached 90 degrees,
where the tangent would become infinite. None-the-less, there is a
definite "pulsar effect" and "Red Shift" that occurrs, based more on
the 'A' factor you describe, every time the driver arrives at a
corner. The "Red Shift" is most easily detected toward the rear of the
vehicle by the way.

Lastly, as I speculated on your 'T' and 'A' as factored in the
equation I thought to myself.... "is this a (female) Pat or a (male)
Pat!"

You know, we could really get a thread going on this; especially if
the Thicko's become involved.... or OKer joins in (he's a physicist
and aeronautical engineer)! Balls back in your court!!

Personally, my biggest problem is the level of Kryptonite in todays
unleaded racing fuels!!!

Carl
p.s. Did you know that "Pat Ryan" was Richard Nixon's wifes maiden
name?

: Group,
: RE: The "spirit" and competitiveness of vintage racing...
: I am enjoying this thread immensely. The differences between SCCA
and the
: multiple variations on "Vintage" are cussed and discussed ad
infinitum. All
: well and good, but it seems to me that most posters ignore cause and
effect
: which are much simpler and I believe can be expressed
mathematically:
:
: X and Y decrease in exponential relationship to the decrease of T
which is a
: function of A
: Where X equals the lateral g-force at which you define
cornering at
: 10/10
: And Y equals your need to win at all costs
: And T equals testosterone level
: And A equals AGE
:
: To prove this theorem simply obtain the A of each poster,
extrapolate the T
: and see if that does not match the perspective as expressed as
definitions
: of X and Y.
:
:
: For those of you who may feel the need to add W (Wisdom) to the
equation, I
: might point out that it is also a function of A.
