Larry, et al,
 I remember the controversy over "prodification" in the late 50s and
early 60s. I think a lot of the impetus for change came from the Cal
Club which was allowing all sorts of mods to production cars. Read
Sports Car Graphic of the era and see what was being done in CA. My
first vintage car was a Alfa Giulietta Sprint, severely lightened,
fiberglass hood scoop, shaved body, etc. that was ex-Cal CLub!
The rest of the country felt obligated to keep up with the Cal Club
racers...
