Mark:

I was under the impression that most FFs originally used Lotus Cortina or
Cortina GT steel wheels, which were 13 X 5.5. Those wheels are as rare as
hen's teeth these days, typically bringing $100/wheel or more (sometimes more
than comparable alloys).

Stock Cortina wheels 13 X 4 are still plentiful and useful for the centers.
Renault Alliance (formerly used on SCCA Spec racers) wheels are also 13 X
5.5, and can be used for the outers with the centers replaced with Cortina
centers. There were a few other cars (Lotus Sprint, + ???) that had 13 X
5.5 wheels with the same bolt circle as Cortina's, but not many. I've made
several sets from the Renault Alliance wheels, and you can occasionally find
a set of Locort wheels for sale.

Also, FYI, FIA regulations for production cars allowed wheels up to 1" wider
than stock, so Cortina's could use up to 6.5" wide wheels if you can make
them fit. Many aftermarket alloys are 13 X 6.
