You have likely heard of the G-Analyst, a two axis accelerometer that was
around for a number of years.  Not sure where these might still be available.
A current example of such a device is the G-Cube ( www.extremegeez.com) that
is also a small two axis device, and has some fairly nice software available
for displaying and interpreting results.  The developer is primarily an
autocrosser, so that is the main focus of the software, but rumor has it
that it can be useful on a road course as well.  I don't have one, but am
seriously considering getting one this season.
