Fellow Racers, ex-Racers, and Friends of Racers:
Please help me in compiling a racing history of Stanguellini Formula Junior
cars in the United States. If you owned, drove or watched these cars in the
US during the period from 1959 through 1963 when the International Formula
Junior was in effect, I'd like to hear from you!
Formula Junior was the original "farm league" formula, intended as a
jumping-off point for future world champions, and Stanguellini defined the
FJ state-of-the-art in the first years of the formula. His front-engined,
1100 cc monoposti celebrated the lessons of the previous decade of Grand
Prix cars; unfortunately he looked to the past rather than the future and
was soon vanquished by the rear-engined British crowd.
1998/99 is the 40th Anniversary of the origin of the Formula, and I hope to
have at least a substantial start on the history of these significant cars
for next year's on-track celebrations.
I would appreciate any information, factual or anecdotal, you would care to
contribute; feel free to pass my contact information along to any others who
might be interested in documenting this significant chapter in racing
history.
Thank you!
