1998 SVRA Supplemental Regulations and Class List
Competition Group Seven
(updated 5/5/98)
1. Eligibility: a) Can-Am cars as raced after 1967.
b) World Championship for Makes sports cars as raced after 1970.
c) Under 2.0L sports cars as raced after 1972.
d) FIA Category C & C/2 and IMSA GTP & GTP/light prototypes.
e) Center seat Cam-Am cars.
f) Select formula cars
2. Background and philosophy: Group Seven cars must be prepared as they were
during their competitive racing period. Since racing technology progressed
very rapidly during this period, there may be different specifications that
are period correct. It is SVRA’s intent to provide fair and equitable racing
amongst this diverse group of cars. Certain pre 1970 cars may be considered
eligible for Group Five and some pre-1970 cars with later specifications are
more appropriate in Group Seven.
3. Modifications: Since these cars mostly raced in open categories, there
will be variations within a particular make and model that are period correct.
Group Seven cars are expected to have only period equipment and
specifications. It is the responsibility of a competitor to provide
documentation for any specification that is not generally considered
appropriate.
4. Approved tires: Racing slicks and treaded tires. While exact size and
aspect ratio are not specified, entrants must ensure that tire choice is
appropriate for the car during the eligibility period.
