Unfortunately, the Cortina isn't making it to PS this year...still limping on
3 wheels since breaking the front hub at Laguna....I now have a winter repair
project (like I needed another one)!!!!
However, my engine builder (Al Burtoni) of Lamborghini fame has made me an
offer I can't refuse. He's offered to let me drive his one-off Countach
Bonneville record car (the documented fastest Countach in the world!!). He's
raising the ride height to accomodate the road course, taking the parachute
off, adding rear view mirrors, and off we go! Apparently, there's some sort
of special Lamborghini race and session at PS this year (I think they're
trying to promote the new Diablo race series ala the Ferrari 348 Challenge).
Anyway, the Countach is signed up to run...
I'm hoping I don't embarass Al & myself by going slower than I would in the
Cortina...If you're there, drop by and check this thing out...its awesome.
While there be sure and say hello...I met lots of Internet friends and
contacts at Steamboat and Laguna...its great to put faces with screen
names....
Anyone else going to PS????
By the way, as most of you know, the track has moved nearer to the airport in
an unfinished housing development with brand new streets. I heard they just
got approval to go in and rip out all the curbs and make a few mods to make
it just like a real road course. If you visit the VARA website
(http://www.directnet.com/~vara/) and check under SCHEDULE for the PS race,
there's a gif of the track layout. An informed source says its the best
track they've ever had in PS....
Hope to see you there....
