Couldn't agree more with the pilot!
And still another thought based on many years of vintage motoring and
everyday driving classic and modern cars:
If you open the hood of one of those classics, inclusind E Types, you
can identify the (compared to a modern car, few) vital parts. Anything
wrong is usually quickly fixed, at least to bring you home and have it
properly repared. A serviced classic will not let you down on vital
parts that stop you in the middle of nowhere, but an average farmer
out in the country (farmers usually fix their machinery themselves)
will have bits and pieces to help you on.
Try this with one of those modern cars full of electronics! You open
the hood and are lost, because you don't know what is what. Let alone
find or repair a broken part!
Even the slightest flaw (usually just the computer chip playing mad!) stops
you right there, and the only way is to load your piece on a truck,
transport it to a decent repair shop and connect it to their diagnosis
computer!
